Back on track again...

Pääsiäisloma, Helsingin risteily ja monta, monta tuntia junassa tekee ihmeitä. Huhtikuun sukat valmistui alta aikayksikön.
Some days off at Eastern, a Cruise to Helsinki and many, many hours in at train brought the inspiration back again. The april socks were finished so fast that I can't belivet it.

Näin onnistunut projekti saa inspiraation pursumaan ja kaivoin esille puolikiloa mustaa Drops Muskat-lankaa ja istahdin Isoveljen kanssa suunittlemaan minkälainen siintä villapaidasta tehdään. Kun kaikki oli valmista ja totesin että siispä kuvioneuletta neljällä värillä, puuvillalangasta... Mutta mitäpä hyvä äiti ei tekisi lapsille kun isoveli mainitsi ihan ohimennen että:- En aio pitää sitä koulussa... No, koska sitten aiot käyttä sitä, kysäsin... No ehkä joskuks kotona... Sillion simahti, kerroin tälle kiitämättömälle nuorukaiselle että hän just nyt jäi ilman villapaitaa....
Kiukuspäissään ongin tämän mallin esille ja aloin neuloa itselleni villatakkia. Luulen että siintä tulee tosi ihana, mustalle villatakille on aina käyttöä.

After a sucessful Project like this the inspiration is bubbling all over so I started to plan BigBrothers sweater together with him. When we'd agreed upon the design and I had realized that it would be intartsia-knitting with four colors in hard cotton-yarn...But what doesn't a mom do to her beloved children, when he "by the way" mentioned tha he was not going to wear the sweater at school. OK, I said, when will you be wearing it then? Maybe at home... was the answer. So I told this ungrateful young man that he that moment had lost a homeknitted sweater. Filled with frustration I casted on this cardi to myself... you can never have too many black cardis....

Nyt voin myös esitellä joululoma neuleen...Neuloin kummitytölleni  vauvapeitton. Ensimmäiset kymmenen centtiä oli ihna kivan mutta voin ihan rehellisesti sanoa että lopulta palmikot maistui puulle. Kummityttö sai pienen poikalapsen ja peitto on toivon mukaan käytössa siispä voin nyt näyttää sen muillekin.
Now I finally can show what I was knitting during the christmas holidays. A baby-blanket to my good-daughter. She got a wonderful little baby-boy and the blanket has now reached the happy family so I can share it with you too. The first 10 cm was fun knitting but I can honestly say that by the end I was quite tired of cables...

Feelis:Nepal oli tosi kiva neuloa ja palmikot näkyvät niin selvästi. Toivottavast se kestää pesun hyvin. Nepal was nice to knit and the cables are very well defined.

Nyt on jotain tosi isoa valmistunut! Mittat on 150*180cm. Kevyt ja lämpionen. Hehkuvat värit ja näkymättömät palmikkokuviot.
Something huge has been finished! It meausrers 150*180 cm, Warm and cosy and not particualy heavy either. Rich colors and invisible cable pattern.

feelis: Loistoesimerkki siintä mitenkä lanka ja malli ei sovi yhteen. Mutta se on kevyt ja lämmin ja se on kaikesta tärkein. Splendid example of bad match between yarn and pattern but is is warm and cosy and that's more important.

Minulla on jämälankasukat puikolla, ne on tosi nopsat neuloa. Jos vaikka saisin ne viikossa valmiiksi....
I have a pair of stashbuser socks on the needles. They knits up very fast. Maybe I'll finish them within a week...

Jotain isoa on tulossa...

Aivan niin, olen vihdoinkin saanut itsestäni niin paljon irti että olen saanut yhden tilkkutäkin kasattua ja olen myös saanut melkein neljänneksen reunasta neulottua. Tästä tulee iso, suunillen noin 145*180cm valmiina. On tosi mukava istua täkki sylissä ja neuloa renusta, se lämmittä jalkoja niin mukavasti. Pidän tästä kovasti mutta tämä täkki on todellakin koulukirja esimerkki mitenkä lanka ja malli ei sovi yhteen pennin edestä. Kaikki kauniit palmikot hukkuvat värivivahteihin ja lopputulos on iso raidallien mössö.

I've got somthing big going on.... Yes, I have finally assembled one of the afghans I have had lying around and I have also knitted almost a quarter of the border too. This one will be big.. about 145*180cm. It is really nicve to sit with the afghan in the lap knitting the border, so warm and cozy. I really do like this but I must admit that is a brilliant example of how badly the yarn and pattern match together. All the beautiful cables disappear in the color changes and the result is a huge striped mess.

Jotain pientä on myös valmistunut. Minulta jäi aika paljon Noro sukkalankaa kun olin neulonut Baudelaire sukat itselleni, upotin ne jämt kämmekäisiin. Tietysti sammalla mallilla. Neuloin nämä ylhäältä alaspäin että varmasti saisin kaiken langan käytettyä ja että lanka myös riittäisi peukkuja varten. Lanka meni kaupksi niin justiinsa että jäi noin 5 cm että kuitenkin sain pienen langanpään minkä voin päättää.

Something small has also been finished lately. I got some Noro-leftovers from the Baudelaire-socks. Enough to knit a pair of fingerless mittens with the same pattern. To make sure that all yarn would be spent and to be sure that I wouldn't run out of yarn for the thumbs I knitted them top-down. I managed pretty well, when all was casted off I had approximately 5 cm left.

Valmista villasta viluiselle

Vihdoinkin valmis. Ensimmäisen tilkun neuloin 2009, reunuksen kanssa on tuherreltu kesästä saakka, ei tällä mitään kauneuskilpailuja voiteta mutta se on jo ollut käytössä ja lapset ovat hyväksyneet sen. Siitä tuli niin iso että molemmat mahtuvat käpertymään sen sisään kun katselevat telkkaa.

Finally finished. I knitted the first square in 2009, the border has taken since June to knit. This afghan will not win any prices for beauty but it has been in use and the kids has approved it. It's so big that both of the have plenty of space when warpping into it.

Maybe a little too heavy to be perfect, stretches in every direction, "creative" colors but all my left-overs and my mom's were used to this one I even had to buy some more at Salvation Armys second hand shop.

Tällaisen urhotyön jälkeen voisi hieman juhlia... esimerkiksi kasaamalla seuraavan tilkkutäkin (niitä on vain kaksi odottamassa...)
After making brave work like this you may celebrate... for instance by assembling the next afghan (there is two more waiting...)

Tilkkuja tusina täydeltä

Vihoinkin 12 Month Cable Afghan KALin viimeinen tilkku on valmistunut. Se oli tosi kiva neuloa, eli oikein tyylikäs päätepiste tähän KALiin. Epäilen että lankaa ei ole tarpeeksi jäljellä että se riittää reunustaa. Viikon päästä lähdemme suomeen ja nyt pitäisi yrittää ponnistella a olla niin reipas että neuloisi muutaman tilkun kasan ja neuloisin yhden kerän että näkisi kuinka pitkälle se riittää. Tarkoitus oli että alan kesäloman tänään mutta kymmentä vailla kolme tänään sain tietää että minun olisi oltava ensi viikko töissä… naapurikaupungissa. Tosi kivaa, se tietää kolme tuntia autossa joka päivä työpäivän lisäksi.

Finally the last square to the 12Month Cable Afghan is finished.This one was a pleasure to knit and a worthy endpoint to the KAL. I fear that I do not have enough yarn to knit the complete border. Luckily we're going to Finland soon and I can buy some more, if I manage to join som squares and knit a skein to see how long I can go with it. Maybe I had managed this because I was about to start my vacation today but about three o'clock I was told that I need to work next week.. in the neighbouring town... Truly fun it takes about 90 minutes to drive there so I can add 3 hours per day to my wortking hours.

Sain täältä inspiraatiota neuloa meikkilappuja pumpulilangasta. Koska nyt DROPsilla on lanka-ale niin ostin 2 kerää Pariisia ja hujautin kahdessa illassa 23 lappua. Toivottavasti viihdyn niiden kanssa, joka kerta kun pystyn vähentämään kertakäyttö tuotteiden käyttöä tunnen itseni niin reippaaksi ja jos nyt syksyksi joudun kulkemaan 2*93 km päivässä niin tarvitsen todellakin tätä reippauden tunnetta.

I found the inspiration to knit makeup pads here. Since DROPS are having 30% off on summer-yarns I made a “bargin“. 2 skeins of Paris and a whole evenings work I now have 23 makeup pads. I hope I’ll like these. Every time I can reduce the use of non-recyclable item I feel a little proud and environmental friendly. These feelings will truly be needed if I the coming autumn will be having to drive 2*93km to work every day.

48 tilkkua täkissä

Katsokaapa tätä! Vihdoinkin kaikki 48 tilkkua on yhdistetty. Kesti vaan 18 kuukautta siitä kuin viimeinen tilkku oli neulottu. Tästä tulee ISO! Reunustaa on noin puolet neulottu ja olen jo todennu että lanka loppu kesken. Mutta 7-Veljestä voin ostaa lisää parin viikon päästä. Ehkä vaikka Korian ABC:stä missä taitaa olla Novitan myymälä.

Look at this! Finally all 48 squares assembled together. It took only 18 month from the last square was knitted… This afghan will be HUGE. I still have about half of the border to knit and have realized that I’ll run out of yarn. But we’re going to Finland in a couple of weeks so I’ll guess I’ll have a great opportunity to buy more especially since we’re going to stay pretty close to a Novita outlet.

Kesäneuleita

Vaikka on kesäkuumaa (nojaa..) niin olen kuitenkin saanut jotain aikaiseksi. Ensimmäisenä näytillä on Kesäkuun tilkku. Nyt on vain yksi tilkku jäljellä ja sitten aion kasata tämän heti, ainakin yritän että se ei jäisi marinoitumaan.
Even though it’s summer and warm (well could be at least…) I have something to show and there is some FO’s too. First of all The June square, now there is only one square left to go before all squares are knitted. My intention is to assemble this as soon as possible.

Muistatteko sen mallitilkun mikä oli näytillä kesäkuun alussa? Siitä tuli Innostunut Unikko vaikka väri ehkä enemmän muistuttaa sireeniä. Neuleosa on valmis ja olen myös saanut Pikkusiskon kummitädin avulla käsiini pilkullista kangasta mistä neulon hameen ja olkaimet.
Do you remember the swatch I showed some weeks ago. I grew into a Enthusiastic Poppy,even though the color more reminds of lilac (Syringa Vulgaris). The knitting part is done now and with the help from Little Sisters godmother I found a suitable fabric for the skirt and shoulder straps.

Neljäs johtolanka uudestaan... oikea kuva;-)

Hupsista… huomasin että sukkakuva olikin kolmas johtolanka, siispä, täältä tulee neljäs johtolanka ja voin kertoa että viides johtolanka jo on voitin puolella, Voi jopa käydä niin että koko salaisuus kerkeää paljastua toukokuussa.
I noticed that the photo shows clue three, so let me proudly present the result of clue four and I can also reveal that there is not much left on clue five before the socks are don, maybe in the beginning of the next week the secret will be revealed.

Toukokuun tilkku on myös neulottu valmiiksi, siihen hupeni hurjasti lankaa mutta tykkään siitä kovasti.

Huhtikuun puuhia

Tilkkutäkit edistyy, huhtikuun tilkku on jo valmis. Aluksi vähän epäröin kun näin tilkusta kuvan tuntui että siinä on ihan liian paljon kaikkea mutta kun sain sen alkuun niin tulihan siitä ihan kiva. Nyt tosin tää neule aika vähenee aika lailla koska alan pyöräilemään töihin.

When it comes to the afghans I can report some progress; the April square is finished. I was very doubtful when I casted on for this one, there seemed to be too much of everything, but when it’s finished I like it. But now there will not be so much knitting time in the future since I’ll start to go to work by bike.

Minua jäi nakertelemaa se ajatus että pitäisi saada niitä tiskirättejä puoli tusinaa. Jos nyt asiaa ajattelee niin mikä se on joka tekee sen että puoli tusinaa jotenkin on parempi ja tasaisempi numero kun viisi? Neuloin niitä Bambujämiä pois ja onnistuin niin hyvin että vaaleanpunaista jäi reilu metri ja sinistä jäi ehkä 5-6 metriä.
The thought of half a dozen dishcloths didn’t leave me any peace. Quite stupid actually why is it so that half a dozen seems to be a more even figure that five? Anyhow I gathered together some Bamboo leftovers and knitted a cloth. I managed so well with the choice of yarn that only about 1 meter pink yarn was left and about 5-6 meters of the blue one.

Huhtikuun tilkkua odotellessa

Neuloin taas uuden tiskirätin. Jos tässä vaikka vielä kietaisi yhden niin saisi puolitusinaa valmiiksi, eiköhän siinä riittäisi vähäksi aikaa. Siitä taidan tehdä kirjavan koska niitä langanpäitä on jäänyt aikamoinen kasa ja varmasti niistäkin saisi yhden rätin. Olen muuten olut tosi reipas. Tänä vuonna en ole ostanut yhtään ainoata lankakerää ja lankavarastokin on kutistunut alle 8 kg. Tiedän tosin että se minun lankavarasto ei ole kovinkaan suuri mutta on siinä vielä hieman kutistumisen varaa.

While waiting for the April afghan square to be published I knitten one more dishcloth. If I knot one more I’ll have half a dousin of new ones. This last one I think I’ll knit of the leftovers from the previous ones. By the way I must boast a little. I haven’t bought one single skein of yarn this year. And my stash I below 8 kg… well I know that my stash isn’t one of those huge ones but I still would like to knit off some more before I visit the LYS. Feelis: Ihan kiva, yksinkertainen malli joka oli tosi nopea neuloa. Tää sininen väri on vaan niin ihana! It’s nice, simple pattern and very quick to knit. I love this blue color!

Sitä Drops Delight lankaa mitä käytin Hedgerow settiin jäi noin 75 g, riitää sukkia varten. Koska lankaa kuitenkin on hieman niukasti päätin tehdä sukat varpaasta ylöspäin, tosin nämä Norfolk Ramblersit alkavat varresta alaspäin. Mutta eihän näppärä tyttö anna sellaisen pikkumutkan häiritä hyvää suunnitelmaa.

I got about 75g left-over of the Drops Delight-yarn I used for the Hedgerow set. It’s enough for a pair of socks but since there is no margin at all I decided to knit a pair toe-up, two-at-the-same-time but these Norfolk ramblers are from cuff down… But a handy girl doesn’t let such trifles disturb a good plan.

Nukelle kesämekko!

PikkuSiskon nukke halusi hieman jotain uutta kevättä varten, siispä vaaleanvihreä lanka esille ja arvatkaa mitä… Niin virkkuukoukku! On tästä aikaa sitten kun virkkasin viimeksi ja englanninkielistä mallia en ole koskaan aikaisemmin yrittänyt mutta kuva oli niin selvä että mekon kanssa ei ollut mitään ongelmia. Pikkuhousujen kanssa asia ei ollut ihan sama, kuvasta en saanut mitään selvää ja ohje meni todellakin yli minun ymmärryksen. Sitä paitsi lanka loppui kesken ja tämä oli sellainen iänkalkkisen vanha jämä, en edes tiedä mitä mahtaa olla siispä nukke jäi ilman pikkuhousuja. One of Little sister dolls needed a new dress for the coming season. I found this pale green leftover and a nice pattern and guess what… I crocheted! It’s a long time ago since I last used a crochet hook and I have never read English crochet patterns but the picture was so clear and the dress was no problem. But the bottoms… that was something completely different. I couldn’t from the picture figure about how they should be and besides I ran out of yarn and it was an old left-over so the poor doll has to live without a pair of bottoms…

Feelis: PikkuSiskon nukke on tosi tyytyväinen, mekko napitetaan valkoisella Hello-Kitty napilla minkä PikkuSisko valitsi nappilaatikosta. LittleSisters doll was very pleased, it’s buttoned at the rear with a white Hello-Kitty button that Little Sister choose.

Nämä uudet tiskirätit ovat piristäneet keittiötä aika ihmeesti ja hymy huulissa pyyhin aamuisin aamiaismurut pois ruokapöydältä. Ei muuten paljon tarvitse että arkipäivästä tulee hieman pirteämpi.

This new dishcloths have cheered up my kitchen. I smile every morning when I wipe off the breakfast-remains from the table. It is strange how little you need to cheer up the gray every-day business. Malli/Pattern: Jessica Topaz, Mountain Laurel dishcloth

Sitten viimeiseksi minun on pakko kertoa että olen vihdoinkin saanut yhden tilkkutäkin edistymään. Jämälanka-täkki saa sammalvihreän reunustan. Neulon reunustaa ja kasaan samanaikaisesti. Olin ostanut 450 gr Seiska Veikkaa reunusta varten mutta alan jo epäillä ett se ei tule riittämään. Onneksi mamma lähtee parin viikon päästä Suomeen ja voin pistää pienen tilauksen hänen mukana.

Finally I must tell that I have got some inspiration to start working on the left-over-yarn afghan. I have started to knit the border in a dark green yarn. I had bought 450g of Novita Seitsämän Veljestä for this purpose but I start to fear that I’ll run out of yarn. Fortunately my mother’s going to Finland soon so I’ll ask her to buy some more.

Pikkuprojekteja

Pari pientä projektia on valmistunut tässä hiljakkoin. Helmikuun tilkun kanssa tuhersin koko kuukauden, maaliskuun tilkun neulon valmiiksi viikossa. Ihan kiva tilkku, tosin keksin hieman omiani. Mallin mukaan sivussa olisi pitänyt olla 5+4 silmukka sammalneuletta, eri leveä reunusta ei inspiroinut siispä lisäsin pari silmukkaa ja neuloin pienen 2x2-palmikon sammalneuleen sijasta ja mielestäni se on paremman näköinen näin.

Some small projects has been finished last week. The February square took almost a month the knit the March square was finished in a week. I like it, but I made a small modification of my own. The idea of an asymmetrical border didn’t suit me, (pattern said 5+4 s seed stitch), and instead I added some stitches and made a 2*2 cable next to the border. In my (symmetry-loving-) eyes this looks better.

I have been knitting some dishclots too. The pink twisted cable-thing was finished last week on the bus to work and on the way to IKEA on Saturday I’ll casted on a new one.

Pikku projekteja on niin kiva alkaa että päätin tehdä IsoVeljelle ne kauan sitten luvatut Olympialais-lapaset. Lanka ostettiin jo ajat sitten. Neuloin ne yhtenä iltana ja nyt alan hieman epäillä että niistä tulee liian pienet ja Pikku Sisko ei varmasti huoli koska ne eivät ole vaaleanpunaiset. Kun katson kuinka paljon langanpäitä pitäisi päättää ja peukalotkin puutuu vielä niin meni sisu kaulaan. Katsokaapa kuvaa, ei ole lapanen vaan ryijymatto Mahtaakohan valmistua ollenkaan?
Small projects are nice, so I decided to cast on for the Olympic Games-mittens that I have promised BigBrother. The yarn was bought long ago. I knitted them in one evening but now I suspect that they might be too small, they’re still without thumbs and when looking at all the loose ends I start to despair. Wonder if this will be anything at all. Look at the picture it isn’t a pair of mittens, it’s a hairy rug.

Tiedättekö mitä olen tehnyt tilkkutäkkien kanssa... Aivan niin; en yhtään mitään.

Arkipäivä…

”Joululoma” on ohi töitäkin on tehty jo viikon päivät. Meillä ”joululoma” alkaa synttärijuhlilla ja sitten vietetään joulunaatto ja uuden vuodenaatto-juhlat meillä ja sitten sopivasti loppiaiseksi päätetään ”joululoma” uusilla synttärijuhlilla. Toisin sanoen aika ei pahemmin ole riittänyt neulomiseen. Pari tilkkua on kuitenkin valmistunut.

The Christmas “holidays” are over and I’ve been working more than a week already. At our place we start the Christmas “holidays” with a birthday party and then we go for the Christmas eve. And when we still have the party mood high why not continue with celebrating the New Years eve with a party at our place. The last thing we do during our Christmas “holidays” is to have a second birthday party… You maybe understand that there isn’t much time left for knitting.

Vihdoinkin olen tilkkujen kanssa ajan tasalla. Nyt voi tässä välissä vaikka neuloa pienen pipon ja ehkä lapasetkin. Muistatteko Anna-lapaset jotka neuloin: epäilin hieman jos lanka todellakin pitää talvipakkaset loitolla. Nyt voin kertoa että ne ei ole kylmän sään tumppuja.

Two squares of the latest afghan has been completed and finally I have cached up the KAL. While waiting for the next square I could knit a hat and maybe a pair of mittens too. Do you remember the Anna-mittens a knitted a while ago. I was a little doubtful if the yarn could keep my fingers warm. Now I know; they didn’t so I’ll need a pair of warm mittens since we still have a couple of months of winter to go.

Adventti on odotuksien ja lumitöiden aika

Viime viikkojen aikana meille tuli talvi. Kovat pakkaset ja lumitöitä on ollut ihan omiksi tarpeiksi. Tänä aamuna mittari näytti -14 astetta. Se on täälläpäin aikamoinen pakkanen. Olen ennakko vauhdilla ja hampaat irvissä neulonut tilkkuja. Muuta tällä ei ole sitten neulottu, en ole saanut itsestäni niin paljon irti että olisin purkanut pikkusiskon puseroa niin että voisin neuloa ne hepat uudella pohjavärillä, sen tosin olen ostanut. Lankakaupassa on aina aikaa käydä.

The winter came during the last weeks. Biting cold and more than enough of the snow work to keep the pavement and front yard clean from snow. This morning we had -14 degrees Celsius, that’s pretty cold to be here. I have knitted squares with a never before seen speed, but that’s also all that has been done. I have not frogged Little Sisters sweater but the new yarn has been bought. I guess that you always find some time to visit the LYS.

Feelis: En tykkää pitsi/palmikko sekoituksesta enkä pahemmin rakasta noita pallukoita. Kai se on hieman kehittävää tehdä tällistä joskus silloin tällöin. I do not like the mixture of lace and cables and I definitely do not like bobbles. It strengthens one’s character to do things like this every now and then.

Sydämellisiä syystilkkuja

Syyskuun sydäntilkku valmistui, ihan kiva neuloa ja kiva näköinen tosin se vaatii aika kova pingotuksen että reunat pysyy suorana. Marraskuun tilkku on jo alussa ja toivon mukaan olen joulukuussa ajan tasalla. Tosin jämälankatäkki ja 2010 vuoden tilkkutäkit ovat surkeasti laiminlyöty. Jämälankatäkkiin en ole koskenut 5 kuukauteen ja saa nähdä koska saan 2010 vuoden täkin kasattua.

The September square is finished, a nice heartily one, easy to knit pretty looking but it will require heavy blocking. I’ve already made half of the October square and maybe I have catch the KAL in December. My other afghans are sadly forgotten. I haven’t touched the rest-over-yarn afghan for five months and the 2010 Aran afghan is as it was the day I knitted the last square…

Hopeasydän

Olin sunnuntaina kurssilla. Teimme hopeasta koruja. Tosi kätevää, ruiskussa oli jonkunlainen hopea/savi sekoitus minkä sitten pystyi pursottamaan eri muotoihin joka sitten lämmitettiin. Tein itselleni ja pikkusiskolle sydänriipukset ja olen tosi tyytyväinen tulokseen.


Last Sunday I joined a Silver clay-class. It was fun and easy, the silver clay was in a injection and you could spray it in different shapes. I made heart pendants to me and Little sister and I’m quite pleased with the result.

Ensimmäinen tilkku palmikko-tilkkutäkkiin valmistui pari päivää sitten. Kokoa sillä tuli 45*45 cm. Toisin sanoen tilkku kuussa riittää ihan hyvin. Syyskuun tilkku on hieman työläämpi koska se pitää neuloa palmikko puikon kanssa.

The first square to the cable afghan was finished a couple of days ago. It’s huge compared to previous squares I knitted 45*45 cm. One square a month will do fine. The September square will be some more time consuming since I need to have an extra needle for the cables.

Feelis: Ihan kiva tilkku, tosi reilun kokoinen. Ehkä yksivärien lanka olisi ollut parempi valikoima, palmikot hieman häviävät raitoihin. A nice square, nice size but a solid colored yarn might have been a better choice. The cables disappear in the stripes

Nyt syksy on

Lehdet putoavat puusta ja torstaina tuli talven eka lumi, yöt ovat kylmiä ja auton ikkunat ovat aamulla jäässa. Olen neulonut ihan vuoden ajan mukaisesti, ensiksi jotain valmista

Leaves are falling from the trees, the first snow fell last Thursday, the nights are cold and there are ice on the cars windows in the mornings. This has inspired my knitting…first of all something completed.

Nice but since I like a more rugged surface I used the surface pattern from Eva Skulbru Eriksen’s pattern Apple Leaf Cloth.

Syyskylmällä tarvitaan jotain lämmintä minkä voi kietaista ympärilleen. Sain vihdoinkin Woolen Collectible 12 Month Afghan KALin viimeisen tilkun neulotuksi.

Cold autumn days you need something warm to wrap around you. Finally the last square of the Woollen Collectible 12 Month Afghan KAL is finished.

Koska tilkkuja on niin kiva neuloa olen liittynyt uuten KAL-ryhmää. Tammy Eigeman Thompson päästää kerran kuukaudessa uuden tilkun. Tilkut ovat aika reilun kokoisia (45x45cm) eli ei tarvitse neuloa kuin tilkkua kuussa. Lanka on Novitan Puroa ja väri on sopivasti ”Pakkasyö”. Totesin vaan että vaikka lanka on ihanan väristä niin yksivärinen lanka olisi kuitenkin ollut parempi valinta.

Since knitting squares are such fun I have joined a new KAL, Tammy Eigeman Thompson releases a new square every month. The squares are a decent size (45x45 cm) so I only have to knit one square a month to get a nice afghan. The yarn is Novitas Puro and the colour is named "Frosty night". I realized pretty soon that even though the yarn itself is wonderful a solid coloured yarn might have been a better choice.

Aivottomat jalat!

Sukat valmistuivat sopivasti syyskylmille. Ei nää sukat kyllä niin aivottomat olleet kun olisi luullut. Kierretyt silmukat vaativat valppaan silmän eli ei näitä varsia telkkarin edessä neulottu. Tekisi heti mieli alkaa uusia mutta ensiksi lapsille syyskylmiä varten pipo ja lapasia.

These socks were finished just in time before the cold autumn weathers rolled over the West coast. These socks were not as brainless as one might believe. The twisted stitches requires all time attention so knitting and watching TV was impossible. I would like to cast on a new pair of socks immediately, a brainless pair, but first I need to knit a hat and mittens to the kids.

Feelis: Kivat sukat, istuu hyvin jalassa, saa nähdä jos Aloe Vera-käsittely pitää kantapäät pehmeinä... Nice socks, fit very well. It will be interesting to see if the Aloe Vera treatment keeps my heels soft…

Olen myös saanut tilkun lisään tilkkutäkkiä varten. Toukokuun tilkku ei oikein ollut minun mieleen siispä tein oman tilkun. Lindsday Humphrey on suunnitellut tosi ihanan vauvan täkin, sieltä lainasin palmikkokuviot. Kolme tilkkua on jäljellä ja sitten alkaa kasaamisen ja langanpäättely ilo.

I’ve knitted another square to the afghan. The May square wasn’t such a favorite that I wanted to knit another so I made my own square. Lindsday Humphrey has designed a wonderful baby blanket, I modified the cables from it. Now only three squares remains before I can enjoy the happiness of attaching squares together and weaving in loose ends…

Loppusuora häämöttää

Olen iltasin istunut ja neulonut ambulansseja, yksi vielä ja sitten kasaaminen ja sata langanpäätä jotka pitää päätellä ja luulen että hihoja saa myös hieman pidentää. Tätä kun on ”neulottu” vuoden päivät. Mutta jos vaikka tän viikon aikana valmistuisi!

I’ve spent some evening together with the ambulances, one more… and then I only have to finish it, weave in all those loose ends etc, and probably add some length to the sleeves. I’ve been “knitting” a year on this masterpiece, hopefully it will be finished this week

Alaska-täkkikin alkaa valmistua, heinäkuun tilkkukin on valmis kesäkuu on vielä jäljellä. Olen jo alkanut haaveilla uutta. Tammy Eigeman Thompson on alkanut uuden KALin Ravelryssa, tilkku ja kuukausi. Tällä kertaa tilkut ovat hieman suurempia ja ajattelin neuloa sen Novitan Purosta joka on hieman paksumpi lanka niin ei tarvitsisi kun neuloa kun 12 tilkkua ja ehkä reunan niin saisi sopivan kokoisen täkin. Meillä on telkka siirretty pirtitupaan kellariin ja siellä on hieman vilpoista ja minä ole sellainen pieni vilukissa.

The afghan in Alaska yarn is also coming close to completion. The July square are finished and the June square is on the needles. I have already started to dream of the next afghan. Tammy Eigeman Thompson has started at KAL at Ravelry, one square a month. This time the squares are little bigger and I have decided to knit it in Novitas Puro-yarn which is little thicker than Alaska. I think 12 squares and a border would make a nice size afghan
