Pieni pipo pojalle

Noro-lankoja odotellessa neulotaan pieni mallitilkku ensiksi. Sitten lasketaa edes takaisin ja tarkistellaan kerran vielä että tulos täsmää ja sitten kerätään 29m lankaa kymmenelle pienelle kerälle. Sitten silmukat puikolle ja aletaan miettimään jos tää Barcelona-pipo oli niin nerokas idea....


While waitng for the Noro-yarns to arrive I knitted a swatch....Then I made calculations, lot's of them. After checking and re-checking the calculations I winded up 10 small skeins with 29m yarn in each. Casted on, started to knit and to wonder if the idea of a Barceloa-cap was so brilliant....

Pipo ei tosin sovi telkku-neuleeksi siispä piti saada sukat puikoille. Lanka on tää ihana Aurancia Rancho Multy mistä jo olen neulonut yhdet sukat. Tää kerä tosin on pieni pettymys. Ensimmäinen kerä oli kuin runo, turkoosia, vihertävää, oliivinvihreätä ja kullanruskeita vivahteita. Tämä kerä on suklaanruskeaa jossa on hieman harmaansienertäviä vivahteita ja joskus pieni aavistus viherturkoosia. Tästä voi oppia sen verran että käsinvärjättyjen lankakerien ostaminen netistä on arpapeli. Joskus onnistaa ja joskus ei.


The cap is not suitable for TV-knitting so I needed to cast on a pair of socks too... The yarn is that wonderful Aurancia Rancho Multy of which I've already knitted a pair of socks. Though, this skein is a small disappointment. The fist skein was wonderful as a poem with turquoise, green, olive, golden brown shades. This skein is more chocolate-brown with gray/blue shades and a small hint of green-turquoise. Lesson learned is that buying "hand-colored" skeins from a net-shop is a lottery. Sometimes you're lucky sometimes not.

Hermionen sukat

Isoveli sai joululahjaksi Harry Potterin eka kirjan, sitä on luettu joka ilta ja joskus myös päivisin. Sieltä kai sain inspiraatiota näihin. "Hermionen jokapäivä sukat" on ollut valmiit jo viikon päivät mutta en ole vaan ehtiny saada niistä kuvaa tänne. Lanka on Kaffe Fasseitin Regia design line. Tykkään todellakin Regian langasta, tämä on kolmas pari minkä neulon Regiasta ja kaikki on kestänyt käytöä ja konepesua ihan kiitettävästi. Lanka on aika kirjavaa mutta kuitenkin voi aavistaa pintaneuleen.

Big-brother got his first Harry Potter to Christmas. We have been reading it every evening and sometimes during bright daytime too.... I guess it was there where I got the inspiration to knit these. Hermione's Everday socks. The socks has been finished over a week and now I've a photo of them too... The yarn is Regia Design line by Kaffe Fassett. I really do like Regia, this is my third pair of Regia-socks I knit and all pairs has proven to be very durable both when wearing and when maschine washing.

Tänä vuonna lankalakko sai pikaisen lopun. Minulla on tosi kurja lanka-ale kuri. Noron-lankoja myytin halvalla jag hupsis... Postilaatikossa olikin iso paketti sukkalankaa ja villalankaa slipoveria varten. Koska töissä on tosi kyläm loin heti silmukat puikolle ja nyt en halua tehdä mitään muuta kun neuloa. Unelmahuivista vaan uneksin että se joskus ehkä valmistuisi.
This year my "not-buy-any-yarn"-intention got a very sudden end. I really have a bad, bad charachter when it comes to yarn-discount. They sold out Noro-yarns... and suddenly there were a parcel with sockyarn and Noro Kureyon in the post-box. The Kureyon I will use to a vest. I have already casted on. It's so cold in my office so I'll really need that piece of garment right now. The "In Dreams-shaw" seems to be a beautiful dream.

Uusi vuosi, uudet neuleet

Viime vuoden viimeinen neule oli iso-veljelle pipo. Se ei muuten ole mikä pipo tahansa, se on jääkiekko-pipo. Kuulemma maailman paras joukkue. Jos värit on tuntemattomat niin voin kertoa että kyseessä on Frölunda Indians. Lanka on Järbon Klubbgarn, valmiiksi raidoitettu akryyli-lanka. Tän pipon tekeminen muistutti minua miksi en neulo akryyliä. Lanka nirskuu ja narskuu ja on todella ilettävän tuntuinen jos kädet hikoilee. Aika omituista muuten, mutta kun ajatteln asiaa en usko että kädet hikoilee kun neulon villalankaa.

Last FO last year was a cap to Big-brother. It's a very special one, a ice-hockey cap. If the colors are unfamiliar I can tell you that it's the colors of Frölunda Indians. The yarns is self-striped acryclic yarn and knitting this reminds me of why I do not knit acrylic. The yarn is gneaking and when your hands get warm it's really unpleasant to deal with. By the way, it's strange but my hands never get's so warm when I knit wool.

Feelis: Tosi nopea malli neuloa, noin 4 tuntia alusta loppuun. Tää on ollut päässä aamuaikaisesta iltamyöhää paitsi ei ruokapyöydän ääressä, taitaa olla hyvä.
A nice and very quick pattern to knit. It took about 4 hours from cast on to bind off. This has been worn from early morning to late nigt with exception from time spent at dinnertable, so I guess he's pleased

Tämän vuoden ensimmäinen neule on lapaset jotka neuloin valmiiksi sisun avulla. Tympi todellakin kun totesin että niistä tulee liian pienet. Kivan näköiset ne kuitenkin on, mutta minulle hieman liian tiukat. Minua viehtoo se että esikuva mallineuleeseen on haettu Norrsundan kirkon keskiaikaisista kattomaalauksista. Toisia en todenäköisesti tule tekemään koska niitä kivoja lapasmallia on yllin kyllin. Haaveilen jo tässä riikinkukkotumpuista.
Neulon naisten koon mutta käytin ohuempaa lankaa kun malli suositteli. Toisin sanoen ei ole ihme että ne ovat hieman tiukat. Sain neuloa yhden ylimmääräisen sydänkuvion sekä lapaseen että peukaloon että niistä tulisi tarpeeksi pitkät. Nää lähtee kummitytölleni jolla on tosi luirut kädet, hän ihastui niihin kun näki ne puolivalmiina.

The first FO this year is a pair of mittens finished with the help of pure will (or "sisu" as we say in Finland). It really annoys me that they are too tight for me since they are really pretty and I'm fascinated by the fact that the inspiration for the pattern comes from medieval mural paintings in Norrsunda Church. Even though these were nice I do not think I'll knit another pair. There are plenty of nice patterns waiting and currently I'm dreaming of a pair with peacocks...
I knitted size woman but had fingering yarn instead of sport as the patter suggest so it isn't strange that they were too small. I knitted an additional heart on both mitten and thumb to get them long enough. These will be a gift for my good-daugheter who fell in love with them and she has really skinny hands...

Näin ennen joulua ei pahemmin ole aikaa neuloa ja se vähäinen käsityöaika mikä on meni lasten asusteihin. Isoveli on pitkää himonnut Obi van Kenobin asustetta partiolaisten naamiaisiin. Kaupasta ei tietenkään mitään sellaista löydy. Onneksi pelastusarmejan kirpparista löytyy. Rumat, ruskeat polyseteriverhot 5€, vaaleat farkut, 4,5€ ja pellavainen nasiten tunikka 8€ (Ihan vahingosta löysin kerän Fame Trend sukkalankaa, 2€ se tuli vahingossa myös kotiin). Pari tuntia koneen ääressä ja siinähän se oli. May the fore be with you. Nuoriherra oli tosi tyytyväinen.

Before Christmas there is hardly no spare time. The little time I had this year was spent by sewing costumes to the kids. Big-brother has long been asking for a Obi van Kenobi-dress to the boy-scout masquerade. Naturally you can't find such a thing in the shops. Fortunatelly Salvation Army has got a very nice second Hand-shop. There I found a pair of ugly brown curtains, a pair of chinos and a linen women sweater (17,5€ all together). There was a skein of Fame Trend sockyarn for only 2€ waiting for me too.... A few hours at the sewing maschine and there it was. Young Obi was very pleased.

Seuraavaksi oli pikkusiskon luistelusesitys. Piti olla valkoista, kaupasta ei löytynyt mutta kangastlaatikosta löytyi. Hääpuvun kangasta oli vaikkka kuinka paljon siintä sitten luisteluprinsessalle hametta.



When the masquearde was all over it was time for Little-Sisters skate-show. They should be dressed in white. Could I find a white dress or skirt... No. But fortunatelly I had lots of left over fabrics from my wedding dress. So Little-sister got a new skirt for the show.


Aloin neula lapasia mutta niistä tulee liian pienet minulle, ne taitaa lähteä pohjoiseen päin lasten pikku-käteisen serkun luo.
I have started to knit something - a pair of mittens for me but it seems like they are going to be too small so I'll guess these are going to the far north to the kids small-handed cousin.

Unelmahuivi - ensimmäinen kaava valmis

Unelma huivi edistyy tosi hitaasti. En ole mikään tottunut huivin neuloja ja en taida tykätä tästä langasta ollenkaan. Lanka on Drops lace, silkkiä ja villaa ja se on vastahakoista neuloa. En tiedä onko syy langassa, muistan vieläkin kuinka vastahakoista DROPSin Silke Tweed oli neuloa. Onko silkkilanka vastahakoista, luulin aina että silkki liukuu liiankin hyvin. Vai onko syy puikoissa, aloin huivin Knit Pro-puupuikolla mutta ei liukunut tippaakaan. Vaihdon Addin keltaiseen lace-puikoon mutta yhtä vastahakoista on vieläkin. Tai onko syy helmissä jotka kiristävät silukoita sen verran että ne eivät liu puikolla, vai onko vika ehkä neulojan käsilassa.... Ensimmäinen kaavasivu on kuitenkin valmis jag reilut 50 kerrosta on satu aikaiseksi. Jos nämä silmukat ovat yhtä vastahakoisia tulevaisuudessakin niin tästä tulee pitkä neule-reissu.

My In Dreams-shawl makes slow progress. I'm not that used to kit shawls and I do not know if I like this yarn at all. It's DROPS Lace, a silk and wool-blend and I still do remember how stubborn DROPS Silke tweed was to knit. Is silk yarn stubborn and resistnat to knit. I have always believed that silk-yarn slipped off your needles too well. Or could the fault be in the needles. I started with a pair of wooden Knit-Pro but changed to a pair of yellow lace Addis. But I hardly noticed any change. Could it be the beads that they somehow tighten the stiches and makes the hard to move from needle to needle... or could it maybe be in the hands of the knitter? Anyhoe, the first chart is finsihed and about 50 rows has been knitted. But if theese stiches doesn't learn to slip of the needles better this will be a long knitting-journey.

Satuin "vahingossa" surfailemaan lanka-kaupan kotisivulle. Oli ale, lankesin. Pari päivää myöhemmin postilaatikossa odotteli 350 g sukkalankaa. Tarkoituksenin tänä vuonna oli vähentää lankavarastoa saa nähdä mitenkä sen asian kanssa kävi.

"Accidentaly" I visited a net-based yarn shop. They had discount, I culdn't resist it. A few days later 350 g sock yarn was waiting for me in the post-box. My intention this year was to reduce my stash, in a few weeks we know if I managed.

Lopuksi pientä valmista: Kännykälle pieni suoja. Käytin Judy's magic cast on kun loin silmukat. Neuloin sen alaalta ylös ja pussista tuli saumaton.
Finally something finished: A cosy for my cell-phone. I casted on using Judys magic cast on and knitted it down-up to make it seamless.

Varpaille villaiset viikset

Huomaa että nää 3 tunnin työmatkat omalla autolla vie neuleaikaa. Aika vähän nykyään valmistuu. Liityin ravelryssa Sock Knitter Anonymous -ryhmään ja neuloin Marraskuun sukat, harmaaraidalliset, viiskillä koristeltu miehekäät sukat. Nopeat neuloa ja ihan mukavat jalassa. Lanka on kerässa tosi surkean näköinen ja ihmettelin joka kerta kun näin sen lankalaatikossa miksi yleensä olin ostanut 3 kerää niin surkeata lankaa. Kun sain silmukat puikolle ja pari kerosta neulottua ihastuin pehmeän harmaan sävyyn joka liukuu mustaharmaasta melkein valkoiseen. Jos lanka tuntuu kestävältä ostan lisää tätä väriä. Olen sellainen hiirulainen joka meilellään pitää hillityn värisiä sukkia.

Well you can see that 3 hours on the roads to work steals knitting-time. There is very few FO's now a days. I joined Sock Knitters Anonymous-group in Ravelry and knitted the November Mystery socks. It was a pair of gray-striped, manly socks with moustaches. Really quick to knit and comfortable to wear. The yarn I used looks really sad on the skein. Every time I saw it in my stash I wondered why I had bought 3 skeins of such boring yarn but once casted on an a few rows had been knitted I fell in love with the soft gray shades that goes from almost black to almost white. If this yarn proves to be durable I'll by more of this color. I'm such a gray mouse that I like discreate socks.

Feelis: Selkeä malli, nopeat neuloa, lanka käyttäityy hyvin, sukka istuu hyvin jalassa olen varsin tytyväinen varpaan kavennukseen joka istuu kun nyrkki silmässä. :-)
Well written pattern. Quick to knit, the yarn behaved well, nice fit I'm very fond och the toe decreases it fits my toes perfectly. :-)
