Kevään viimeiset sukat

Huomena sitten alkaa kesä... Runoilijan Baudelairen sukat valmistuvat viikko sitten. Noro oli tosi kiva tuttavuus oli mukava neuloa mutta totesin että 2.5mm puikot ja 64 silmukkaa tekee tiukkaa kantapään kohdalla ja minulla on aika luikerot jalat. Seuraavaan kertaan varten olen oppinut että pitää olla 72 silmukaa, ja sitten voi tietysti jakaa kerän kahteen kerään ja etsiä paikan missä värit täsmää jos haluaa että sukista tulee joten kuten saman näköiset..

This is the last pair of socks this spring, the summer starts tomorrow...The poet Baudelaires's socks were finished a week ago. I learned that Noro is a nice aquintance very firm and nice to knit but I realized that needled 2.5mm and 64 stiches makes it very tight around the heel and I got skinny feet. Lessons learned is that cast on 72 s and if you like to have socks that looks like a pair you should split the skeins so that the colors match a little better.

Feelis: Hieman ahtaa ja vähän "Beauty and the Beast"-tunnelma, toisessa sukassa on ihan kivat värit ja toinen on ihan harmaa mutta kantapäät sattui saman värisiksi.
Little too tight to be perfect and som little "Beauty and the Beast"-feelings one sock is really nicve in color the other is gray but I managed to get the heels in the same color.

Olin eilen työkaverin kanssa luonasrastilla lankakaupassa seurana hänen piti ostaa kesäneuleesen langat. Kun tultiin kaupan ovelle näimme isot punaiset kyltit: "Loppun myynti 50%ALE"...Ostin Knit pro puikkoja ja hieman lankaa...

Yesterday I was with a colleauge on our lunchbreak to help her buy some yarn for a summer-knit. When we arrived to the shop we saw huge red sign on the door "SALE 50%"...I bought Knit pro needles and some yarn...

Pikkulämmintä kesää varten

Runo-sukat edistyy aika hitaasti aivan niin kuin unelmahuivi, on tehnyt mieli neuola niin paljon muuta kivaa. Olen saanut päähäni että on pakko hieman vähentää lankavarastoa. Sain inspiiraatiota ja ostin neljä kesämekkoa tosta noin vaan (taitaa olla pari vuotta sitten kun viimeksi ostin mekon...). Kolme niistä on hihatonta ja kun ottaa huomiion mikä vilukissa olen niin hihaton mekko ei ehkä ole paras valinta. Ravelrystä löytyi kiva malli, lankalaatikossa oli pari kerää Vienna lankaa odottamssa, pari vapaapäivää siihen ja hartijanlämmitin valmistui. Voin todellakin suositella tätä mallia se neulotaan ylhäältä ales ja on tosi helppo soveltaa se niin että sen saa sopivaksi, neulon omani päivässa eli se on myös erinomainen viime-hetken-lahja.

Progress with poetic socks and dreamy shawls are truly slow. There is so much other funny things to knit and I have got into my head that I need to decrease my stash. This spring I have been very inspired and bougt four new dresses for the summer (last time I bougt one dress as a couple of years ago...). Three of the dresses are sleeveless and considereing what poor frozen soul I am sleeveless is maybe not the best choise. But on Ravlery I found a nice pattern, in the stash were some skeins of Vienna, add a few days off and I got a shrug. I really can recomend this pattern, it's knitted top-down and is very easy to adjust and modify. I knitted mine in one day so it's a perfect last minutes gift too.

Feelis: Tykkään niin paljoen että taidan tehdä toisen samanlaisen. Like this so much that I'm thinking about making one more in another color.

Kun etsin Vienna langat esille Bramblewood-liivin jämät iski silmään. Oli niin paljon Noroa että niistä varmasti sais kämmekäät. Lankaa oli runsaasti kerä ja 38 g hupeni näihin. Ikävä kyllä kaikki lanka ei huvennut  jäi vielä reilut 3o g lojumaa. Minä kun luulin että lankaa oli niukasti ja alon kämmekäät sormista ja tarkoitus oli neoula ranteen niin pitkäksi kun lanka riittää ja sitä riitti. Olisi varmasti riitänyt kyynerpäähän saakka mutta niin pitkiä en niistä halunnut.

When I was looking for the Vienna yarn I saw the Noro-remains from the Bramblewood vest. There was yarn enouogh for a pair of fingerless mittens. I started the mittens from the fingers and descided to knit them as long as I had yarn, but there were more yarn than I had expected, propably yarn enoght for the elbows but I didn't want to have them that long so, I still have some little yarn left.

Kämmekäätkin valmistui, tosin kävi niin että lanka loppui kesken kun oli peukalot jäljellä. Mietin hieman ostanko uuden kerän mutta tulin siihen lopputulokseen että en ole niin ihastunut tähän lankaa ja tähän väriin että haluan 97 g lankalaatikkoon lojumaan. Onneksi oli sopivan väristä harmaata Fabel-lankaa josta neuloin peukut. En ole ihan tyytyväinen mitenkä tää käänetty reunus on neulottu yhteen, se vetää nimittäin vinoon. Ensi kerran kun teen tälläisen käännetyn reunan niin taidan luoda silmukat niin että voin neulon silmukat yhteen.

More Nutkin... The fingerless mittens were finished last weekend and as I feared... I run out of yarn when I had the thumbs left. First I was about to buy a new skein but at second thought I realized that I didn't want to have 97 g of this yarn in this color in left in my stash. So I took some gray Fabel-yarn I had and knitted the thumbs. I'm not particullary pleased with the egde that is knitted together, when I picked up the stiches from the cast -on row I din't manage to make it straight so the cuff wants to move diagonal. Next time I'll use provincional cast-on and then I can knit the stiches together one by one to get it straigth.

Nutkin

Liityin viime marraskuussa Ravelyn Sock Knitter Anonymous-ryhmään. Tänä vuonna olen neulonut sukat kuussa ja ajattelin yrittää saada neulottua sukkaparin kuussa ja vuoden loppuusa sitten voin ylpeillä sukka-tusinan kanssa. Maaliskuun sukat eivät ihan valmistuneet ajoissa mutta koska huhtikuun sukat oli sen nopeammat niin olen taas ajan tasalla. Totesin että lankalaatikossa on runsaasti lankoja mutta sukkalangat eivät todennäkösesti riitä vuoden loppuun... ei muuta kun lankakauppaan.. nyt ja heti.

 Last November I joined Sock Knitters Anonymous group in Ravelry. This year I have knitted a pair of socks/month. My ambiton is to knit a pair each month and in the end of the year I'll be the proud owner of a dozen pairs of socks. The March socks took long time to finish, luckily the April pattern were faster to knit so now I'm on track again. I realized that I had plenty yarn in my stash but not enough sockyarn to keep me going for the whole year... yarn shopping... now, imediately!

Toukokuun sukat neulon kirppari langaasta josta maksoin noin 2€. Lankaa jäi runsaasti ja päätin että neulon samalla mallineuleella kämmekäät, nekin alkaa olla valmiit mutta taitaa käydä niin että lanka lopuu kesken. Tällä kertaa ei tosin pidä netistä lähteä etsimään koska lankaa saa ostettua tältä paikalliselta lankamyyjältä. Yritän tehdä suurimman osan ostoksistani sieltä koska olisi tosi ikävä jos se häipyisi. Ikävä kyllä valikoimat ovat aika arkisia. Periaatteessa on vain Drops, Sandnes, Hjertegarn ja Järbon tuotteita.

The April socks were knitted with a bargin from Savation Armys second hand shop, an untouched skein aprox 2€. There were plenty of yarn left when the socks were finished so I decided to knit a pair of fingerless mittens with the same pattern, they too are almost finished but I realized that I'll propably run out of yarn. Luckily this yarn can be found at the LYS. I try to make the majority of my shopping there since it would be sad if they had to close. Unfortunatelly the yarns they keep is quite "every-dayish" mainly Drops, Sandnes, Hjertegarn and Järbo.

Feelis: Kivat mutta ehkä heimaan ahtaa kantapään yli. Malli oli tosi nopea neuloa ensimmäien rivin jälkeen se men ihan itsestään. Ensiksi heiman epäilin että sauma varpaitten päällä hankaa mutta ihan hyvältä tuntuu kengät jalassa. Nämä oli muuten elämäni ensimmäiet "short-row"-varpaat mitkä tein eli opin jotai uutta! Really nice but a little tight to get over the heel. The pattern was quick to knit, once the set-up row was made it went by itself. I was very doubtful about the three-needle bind-off and the "seam" over the toes but it doesn't feel uncomfortable at all when wearing shoes. By the way, this was my firts short-row toe, so I've learned something new.

Sukat ooperailtaa varten

Ensimmäisen kerran kuin näin tän mallin ajattelin että ne haluan tehdä ja niistä tulee vihreät! Sitten löysin sattumalta Regia hand-dye effect lankaa alennusmyynisstä ja väri oli justiinsa sen minkä halusin. Langan löysä kierre hieman epäilytti mutta olin niin raktastunut väriin että en kuunellut ollenkaan sitä pientä epäröivää ääntä. The first time I saw this pattern I knew that I'm going to knit them one day and they should be green! Then I accidentally found Regia hand-dye-effect yarn on dioscount in the right green shades. The yarn was a little loosely spun which made me a little doubtful but I was so in love with the color that I completely ignored that little whispering voice in my head. Aika nopeasti totesin että langan löysä kierre ei todellakaan ollut sopiva valinta malliin jossa kierretään silmukoita ja silmukat vaeltavat ristin rastin pitkin kokoa sukkaa... Lanka halkeili ja oli tosi hankalaa saada kaikki säikeet mukaan mutta mikä oli viellä pahempi juttu oli se ett lanka on hieman pörröinen ja malli häviää ihan kokonaan. Kun totesin tän olin neulonut noin puoli mallikerrosta. Viisas ihminen olisi siinä tilanteessa purkanut ja ostnaut paremman langan ja tehnyt uuden yrityksen. Itsepäinen ihminen puree hampaat yhteen ja jatkaa... Tulos on kivan väriset vihreät suka jossa on monimutkainen mallineule mutta se neule on niin salainen että siintä tietää vain sukan neuloja ja mahdollisesti joku tarkasilmäinen neulojasisko joka todennäköisesti ihmettelee lankavalintaa.... Pretty soon I realized that the loosely spun yarn wasn't particullay pleasant when knitting twisted, travelling stiches. The yarn splitted easily and it requiread attention to every stich, but even worse was that the yarn was a little fluffy and this fluffienss hided the pattern. When I realized this I had knitted half of a pattern repetition. At this moment a wise person would have frogged and bought a new better suitable yarn. A stubborn person bites her teeth togehter an continue knitting... The result is a pair nice colored greens socks with a complicated stich-pattern but this patter is so secret that only the knitter herself knows about it and maybe an argus eyed fellow knitter might notice it and propably wonder over the odd choise of yarn.

Vihdoinkin toinen kaava on neulottu. Ei taida valmistua kummitytön häihin... Finally the second chart is finsihed, I doubt this one will be finished in time for the wedding (not mine...)

Harmitta hieman että valitisn noin pienet helmet, näkyyköhän ne ollenkaan??? Maybe I should have choosen one size bigger beads, these dissapears completely.

Barcelona FCn kunniaksi pieni pipo

Isoveli on tosi tyytyväinen nyt kun FC Barcelona värit lämmitelee korvia. Onneksi tuli hieman viileämmät säät että pipolle on käyttö. Hyväksi se on kehuttu ja kaveritikin on kuulema sitä mieltä että se on ihan yees. Toisin sanoin, tosi onnistunut neule, mutta oli mokomassa homma 12 silmukka ja langan kierre, ja 12 silmukkaa ja langankierre ja kun olin neulonut valmiiksi niin totesin että se oli liian pieni. Siispä 24 silmukkaa puikolle ja raitapari lisää, silloin kiittelin itseäni että en neulonout sitä pyöräpuikolla...

Big-brother is really pleased now when the colors of FC Barcelona is keeping his head warm. Luckily the weather turned colder so there is some use for the cap. He is, as already said very pleased with it and the classmates has claimed it to be "cool". In a other words a very succeful knit, but it was tiresome to knit. 12 s and twist the yarns and another 12 s and twist yarns. When it was finished I realized that it was too small so I had to cast on additional 24 stiches and knit two more stripes. Guess if I congratulated myself for knitting it flat instead of in rounds.
