Ruma, ruma, tosi ruma

The Janyary square is finished and it is truly ugly, and I need to knit one more… I wonder if it is the square itself that is ugly or if the color is wrong or could it be so that the grey color is a very unfortunate choice for this pattern?

Pipo pojalle…

Vihdoinkin jotain valmista.

The soccer cap is finally finished with pompons and all loose ends are weaved in. It’s still winter could an about 50 cm snow so there will be use for a new cap. I assume it will take some time before spring is here, but who cares. I enjoy this real winter. Usually we have a rain- and muddy period that lasts from November to march. As soon as big brother tried the cap on, little sister announced that she too wanted a new cap but it should be with hearts and Hello Kittys’s. It should be pink, red and green. Are anyone surprised about the colour choice?

I knit and knit but nothing gets finished. It bores me! The progress on the ambulance sweater is so slow that I fear that it will be too little when it’s finally finished. But when the big projects are uttermost boring you knit a small project in between. So I knitted a cap. My son wanted to have a cap with the emblem of the local soccer team. Naturally I promised him a cap and believed that the emblems could be bought and I can sew it on the cap. Yes… sure that there were emblems to buy. I had to practice my favorite embroidery technique. It wasn’t that hard as I had feared and I’m quite satisfied. Some finishing still remains to do.

Työmatkoilla en neulo sukkia vaan pikkuneidin bambulanka takkia. Sain kilon Rowan soft Bamboo-lankaa, eri värejä… Eihän sellaisia hienouksia tiskirätteihin tuhlata. Pinta on ihanan pehmeä ja himmeän kiiltävä. Tosi kaunista. Etsin epätoivoisesti ohjetta itselleni lyhythihaiseen puseroon johon voisin upottaa pari kolme eri väriä tästä bambu ihanuudesta.

Nowadays I do not knit sock on the bus on my way to work, I’m knitting a cardi in bamboo yarn to my daughter. It’s going to be huge. But better that way than the opposite way. Unfortunately I believe that I do not have enough yarn. My mom brought this yarn to me from Finland last autumn. I had asked her to buy me 10 skeins mixed colors Novita Bambu-yarn for dishcloths. She brought me 10 skeins Rowan soft Bamboo (4 colors). You can’t use such a wonderful yarn to dishcloths, can you? The yarn is so soft, and velvet shimmery, so beautiful. I’m desperately looking for a pattern to a short sleeved thing for myself where I could use 2 or 3 colors of this bamboo-beauty.

Tilkkutäkkirintamallakin on jotain tapahtunut. Olen ottanut itseäni kauluksesta kiinni ja alkanut pingottaa ja kasaamaan jämälankatäkin tilkkuja. Eka rivi valmistui eilen.

I can also report some small progress on the Afghan frontier. I have shape up and have started to block and join the squares to the left-over-yarn afghan. The first row of squares was joined yesterday evening. I used mattress stitch, at least I believe it is, at least I tried to do it as the tutorial said. I’m amazed how easy and how quick it was. There is only one issue; the squares are of different size even if I try to block them to same size. I fear that this afghan will not be finished when all squares are joined together. I believe that some kind of border is needed. Oh No!

Jotain on kuitenkin ihan valmista. Joulukuun tilkku on vihdoinkin valmistunut.

I do have something that is finished too to present. The December square is finally done. I have knitted and frogged and are still not satisfied. It’s my own fault, if you are in such a hurry that you do not have time to calculate where to start the pattern to get I symmetric you have only yourself to blame.
