Adventti on odotuksien ja lumitöiden aika

Viime viikkojen aikana meille tuli talvi. Kovat pakkaset ja lumitöitä on ollut ihan omiksi tarpeiksi. Tänä aamuna mittari näytti -14 astetta. Se on täälläpäin aikamoinen pakkanen. Olen ennakko vauhdilla ja hampaat irvissä neulonut tilkkuja. Muuta tällä ei ole sitten neulottu, en ole saanut itsestäni niin paljon irti että olisin purkanut pikkusiskon puseroa niin että voisin neuloa ne hepat uudella pohjavärillä, sen tosin olen ostanut. Lankakaupassa on aina aikaa käydä.

The winter came during the last weeks. Biting cold and more than enough of the snow work to keep the pavement and front yard clean from snow. This morning we had -14 degrees Celsius, that’s pretty cold to be here. I have knitted squares with a never before seen speed, but that’s also all that has been done. I have not frogged Little Sisters sweater but the new yarn has been bought. I guess that you always find some time to visit the LYS.

Feelis: En tykkää pitsi/palmikko sekoituksesta enkä pahemmin rakasta noita pallukoita. Kai se on hieman kehittävää tehdä tällistä joskus silloin tällöin. I do not like the mixture of lace and cables and I definitely do not like bobbles. It strengthens one’s character to do things like this every now and then.

Kuka näkee hepan?

Pikkusiskon yksisarvi-paita edistyy mutta hieman hitaasti ja nyt se on jumissa. Missä yksisarviset piileksii ??? Taitaa mennä purkuun, pitää ostaa joku toinen pohjaväri. Ehkä joku vaalea kerman värien pohja toisi noi hepat esiin hieman paremmin. Tympii, mutta ei muuta kun purra kasaan ja sisulla neuloa noi pollet uudestaan.

Here’s the latest update of Little Sisters Unicorn sweater, slow progress and now no progress at all. Where’s the Unicorns??? I’ll have to frog. And buy a new color. Maybe some cream-color behind should show those horses a little better. I’ll hate to frog but I’ll guess I’ll have to do it and then re-knit with the help of the famous finish sisu.

Sydämellisiä syystilkkuja

Syyskuun sydäntilkku valmistui, ihan kiva neuloa ja kiva näköinen tosin se vaatii aika kova pingotuksen että reunat pysyy suorana. Marraskuun tilkku on jo alussa ja toivon mukaan olen joulukuussa ajan tasalla. Tosin jämälankatäkki ja 2010 vuoden tilkkutäkit ovat surkeasti laiminlyöty. Jämälankatäkkiin en ole koskenut 5 kuukauteen ja saa nähdä koska saan 2010 vuoden täkin kasattua.

The September square is finished, a nice heartily one, easy to knit pretty looking but it will require heavy blocking. I’ve already made half of the October square and maybe I have catch the KAL in December. My other afghans are sadly forgotten. I haven’t touched the rest-over-yarn afghan for five months and the 2010 Aran afghan is as it was the day I knitted the last square…

Teddy paita

Teddy on osa isoveljen luokkaa. Hän muuttaa joka viikko uuteen kotiin ja kun Teddy palaa luokkaan hänen päiväkirjasta voi lukea mitä kaikkea kivaa hän on kokenut. Isoveli arveli että Teddy varmasti palelee nyt kun syyskylmät iski ja hän pyysi että neuloisin Teddylle villapaidan. Teddy kuulemma haaveili vihreä/keltaraidallisesta paidasta. Totta kai Teddylle oli neulottava paita. Onneksi Teddy ei halunnut ambulanssipaitaa…. Se ei varmasti olisi viikossa valmistunut;-)

Teddy is a part of Brothers class. He moves every week to a new home and when he returns back to school the other kids can read in Teddys diary all fun that he has had during the passed week. Brother was sure that Teddy would freeze since the winter colds has reached us. He asked me to knit a pullover to Teddy and according to Brother Teddy wanted a yellow/green striped one. Naturally I knitted one for Teddy. Lucky for me that he didn’t want to have an ambulance-pullover. That one would not have been finished in a week;-)

Anna-lapaset

Nyt sormienkaan ei enää tarvitse palella kun sain itselleni tumput. Nää oli tosi nopsat neuloa, ilta ja lapanen ja sitten kolmas ilta peukkuja ja langanpäätelemistä varten. Tein pienen oman niksin kun en halunnut reikiä lapasiin. Reikärivin sijasta tein pienen 1/1 palmikon niin että siirsin silmukkaa askeleen joka toinen kierros. Kun katselen tulosta luulen että olisi ehkä ollut parempi tehdä se joka kierros, tai sitten tehdä 2/1-palmikon joka kierros. Lanka on ihana, pehmeä ja tuntuu mukavalta. Hieman kuitenkin toi akryyli/rayon määrä epäilyttää. Onkohan nämä todellakin talvipakkasilla lämpöiset? Voi tietysti kysyä miksi ylläpäin neuloin ne tästä langasta jos akryyli-pitoisuus epäilyttää mutta kun oli sellainen pieni nöttönen lankakorissa ja sopiva malli löytyi, ja kun tämä oli sellainen pikaprojekti. Lapsille en kuitenkaan vielä ole saanut lapasia aikaiseksi vaikka langat ostettiin jo ajat sitten. Onneksi äitini on kova kutomaan tumppuja ja villasukkia muuten meillä olisi asiat kurjasti meidän huushollissa.

Now my hands do not freeze in the winter colds since I knitted a pair of mittens. These were very quick to knit. One evening/mitten and one additional evening for the thumbs and weaving in loose ends. I made one small modification since I do not want to have “holes” in my mittens. Instead I made a 1/1cable where I moved one stitch ever second row. When looking at the result I think that I maybe should have done that every row or to make a 2/1 cable. The yarn is so soft and cozy but still I cannot help feeling a little doubtful about the acrylic/rayon content in the yarn, will they keep my hands warm? One might ask why then knit mittens if you have this doubts, but you see, there was this little left-over in my yarn basket and I ran into this patter… My poor kids they are still without mittens even though the yarn was bought long ago. Luckily my mom is a keen mitten/sock knitter otherwise the situation in our household would be very poor.

Villasukat valmiit

Nämä sukat ovat olleet valmiit viikon päivät mutta on ollut niin mielettömät kiireet ja en ole saanut kunnon kuvaa ennekuin sunnuntaina kun sain en kuvattua päiväsaikaa. Ostin alennuksista 200 g samaa lankaa, taidanpa neuloa samalla mallilla kämmekäät niin voin sitten koreilla sukilla ja kämmekäillä jotka ovat samaa paria.

I finished these socks a week ago but there has been so much going on and the photos taken with flash was a disaster so I had to wait until Sunday and daylight before I got a decent photo of them. I bought 200 g of this yarn when it was on sale. I think I’ll knit a pair of fingerless mittens with the same “Hedgerow pattern”.

Feelis: Tykkään näistä, valmistuivat tosi nopeasti, mutta lanka ei ihan ollut mieleinen. Välillä tosi paksua ja välillä tosi ohutta, saa nähdä kuinka kauan kantapää kestää.
I like this pattern, they were very quick to knit but the yarn isn’t a favorite of mine. It varies from being “very” bulky to almost nothing I’m very doubtful of the durability. We’ll see how the heels looks like after some time

Hopeasydän

Olin sunnuntaina kurssilla. Teimme hopeasta koruja. Tosi kätevää, ruiskussa oli jonkunlainen hopea/savi sekoitus minkä sitten pystyi pursottamaan eri muotoihin joka sitten lämmitettiin. Tein itselleni ja pikkusiskolle sydänriipukset ja olen tosi tyytyväinen tulokseen.


Last Sunday I joined a Silver clay-class. It was fun and easy, the silver clay was in a injection and you could spray it in different shapes. I made heart pendants to me and Little sister and I’m quite pleased with the result.

Ensimmäinen tilkku palmikko-tilkkutäkkiin valmistui pari päivää sitten. Kokoa sillä tuli 45*45 cm. Toisin sanoen tilkku kuussa riittää ihan hyvin. Syyskuun tilkku on hieman työläämpi koska se pitää neuloa palmikko puikon kanssa.

The first square to the cable afghan was finished a couple of days ago. It’s huge compared to previous squares I knitted 45*45 cm. One square a month will do fine. The September square will be some more time consuming since I need to have an extra needle for the cables.

Feelis: Ihan kiva tilkku, tosi reilun kokoinen. Ehkä yksivärien lanka olisi ollut parempi valikoima, palmikot hieman häviävät raitoihin. A nice square, nice size but a solid colored yarn might have been a better choice. The cables disappear in the stripes
