May the force be with you....
May the fore be with you. Nuoriherra oli tosi tyytyväinen.
Before Christmas there is hardly no spare time. The little time I had this year was spent by sewing costumes to the kids. Big-brother has long been asking for a Obi van Kenobi-dress to the boy-scout masquerade. Naturally you can't find such a thing in the shops. Fortunatelly Salvation Army has got a very nice second Hand-shop. There I found a pair of ugly brown curtains, a pair of chinos and a linen women sweater (17,5€ all together). There was a skein of Fame Trend sockyarn for only 2€ waiting for me too.... A few hours at the sewing maschine and there it was. Young Obi was very pleased.
When the masquearde was all over it was time for Little-Sisters skate-show. They should be dressed in white. Could I find a white dress or skirt... No. But fortunatelly I had lots of left over fabrics from my wedding dress. So Little-sister got a new skirt for the show.
Aloin neula lapasia mutta niistä tulee liian pienet minulle, ne taitaa lähteä pohjoiseen päin lasten pikku-käteisen serkun luo.
I have started to knit something - a pair of mittens for me but it seems like they are going to be too small so I'll guess these are going to the far north to the kids small-handed cousin.

Unelmahuivi - ensimmäinen kaava valmis
My In Dreams-shawl makes slow progress. I'm not that used to kit shawls and I do not know if I like this yarn at all. It's DROPS Lace, a silk and wool-blend and I still do remember how stubborn DROPS Silke tweed was to knit. Is silk yarn stubborn and resistnat to knit. I have always believed that silk-yarn slipped off your needles too well. Or could the fault be in the needles. I started with a pair of wooden Knit-Pro but changed to a pair of yellow lace Addis. But I hardly noticed any change. Could it be the beads that they somehow tighten the stiches and makes the hard to move from needle to needle... or could it maybe be in the hands of the knitter? Anyhoe, the first chart is finsihed and about 50 rows has been knitted. But if theese stiches doesn't learn to slip of the needles better this will be a long knitting-journey.
Satuin "vahingossa" surfailemaan lanka-kaupan kotisivulle.
"Accidentaly" I visited a net-based yarn shop. They had discount, I culdn't resist it. A few days later 350 g sock yarn was waiting for me in the post-box. My intention this year was to reduce my stash, in a few weeks we know if I managed.
Finally something finished: A cosy for my cell-phone. I casted on using Judys magic cast on and knitted it down-up to make it seamless.
Lanka/yarn: Marks & Kattens strömpegarn (11g)
Feelis: Tosi kiva mali neuloa, kännykkä tykää kovasti. A very nice and addictive pattern to knit, my cell phone likes it very much.

Varpaille villaiset viikset
Well you can see that 3 hours on the roads to work steals knitting-time. There is very few FO's now a days. I joined Sock Knitters Anonymous-group in Ravelry and knitted the November Mystery socks. It was a pair of gray-striped, manly socks with moustaches. Really quick to knit and comfortable to wear. The yarn I used looks really sad on the skein. Every time I saw it in my stash I wondered why I had bought 3 skeins of such boring yarn but once casted on an a few rows had been knitted I fell in love with the soft gray shades that goes from almost black to almost white. If this yarn proves to be durable I'll by more of this color. I'm such a gray mouse that I like discreate socks.
Malli/pattern: Deb Barnhill: Movember Mystery Socks (Ravelry)
Lanka/yarn: Drops Fabel (79 g)
Feelis: Selkeä malli, nopeat neuloa, lanka käyttäityy hyvin, sukka istuu hyvin jalassa olen varsin tytyväinen varpaan kavennukseen joka istuu kun nyrkki silmässä. :-)
Well written pattern. Quick to knit, the yarn behaved well, nice fit I'm very fond och the toe decreases it fits my toes perfectly. :-)

Unelmahuivi
At the DROPs yarn discount last spring I bought 200g lace yarn. I wanted to knit a shawl with lots of beads. Now i found it, the shawl of my dreams. Susan Padof has designed a shawl named "In Dreams" (suitable name)... 5000 beads and a beautiful flower/leaf pattern. This will certainly not be a TV-knit but I'm not in a hurry. I do not need it before 4th of Aug next year.
When the afghan was finished I casted on a pair of mittens and I know already that these will be a favourite pair.

Valmista villasta viluiselle
Finally finished. I knitted the first square in 2009, the border has taken since June to knit. This afghan will not win any prices for beauty but it has been in use and the kids has approved it. It's so big that both of the have plenty of space when warpping into it.
Malli/pattern: Loredana Haldeman & Sharon Emery: 2009 Afghan (ravelry)
Koko/size: 148*180 cm, 2016 g
Maybe a little too heavy to be perfect, stretches in every direction, "creative" colors but all my left-overs and my mom's were used to this one I even had to buy some more at Salvation Armys second hand shop.
Tällaisen urhotyön jälkeen voisi hieman juhlia... esimerkiksi kasaamalla seuraavan tilkkutäkin (niitä on vain kaksi odottamassa...)
After making brave work like this you may celebrate... for instance by assembling the next afghan (there is two more waiting...)

Salainen agentti
Finished! I thought that the sleeves never would be finished, I knitted centimetre after centimetre and still it feels like there could been some more of them. I like this very much. It's warm and it's itching.... but I believe that it will dissappear in the first wash. The pattern is well written and it has a nice fit. This will surely be a favourite many years ahead. I wish a had a couple of these in different colors but this one was so tedious to knit so I'll guess this will be the only one. I made a few modifications: I knitted it on a round and made the neck a little smaller.
malli/pattern: Kim Hargreaves: Bond
lanka/yarn: DROPS Silke Tweed (321 g)
Feelis: Ihan, klassillinen, käytännöllinen. Wonderful, classic, useful.
I have finished something small too. This one I've made before.
malli/pattern: Danielle Cote: Cerfs Volantes
lanka/yarn: DROPS lin (50 g)
Feelis: Ihan kiva. Really nice.

Sukkamania ohi
Every moment I could spare I've been knitting these socks like a manic. I love them. A beautiful pattern giving me a déjà-vue-feeling and a yarn that was like a dream. So easy to knit, no splitting no knots only a beautiful soft surface. Lovely colors. I dreamt myself away somewhere to a shore at a chrystal blue lake where the water shifts into turquoise and the green hills mirrors themself into the water in brown/olivegreen shades. I've never been so much in love with a yarn like this one, but on the other hand I've never bought such expensive sockyarn either.... It's obviously a fact: you get what you pay for...
As I said before, the pattern was familiar in some odd way. When I was looking in my sock-drawer I found the first pair of socks I knitted to myself. A pair of Caoua coffee's "Sacre du Printemps". Well, well, what did I see... It was the same pattern but CC had twisted the knit-stiches but on Twirl you knitted them the "normal" way. But they are good looking, absolutely gorgeous.
The sockmania is over fot this time. Maybe I could finish my Bond-sweater now. There is only a few cm missing at the cuff of the sleaves. So very soon it will make a transformation from an UFO to a FO.

Twirl KAL
First I was to finish Bond, then complete the border to the left-over-yarn afghan. Next project was to be Kepler. But what happened? I saw these wonderful socks. A KAL that was to start. I suddenly remembered the two skeins of Ranco Multy in my stash waiting for better days to come. Could anyone wish a better destiny to a skein of yarn than becoming a pair of lace/cable-patterned socks?

Pehmeä bambu
Luxuriously soft against the skin. This yarn is like a dream once it's knitted up. The knitting was hard work since the yarn tends to split all times. It required an eagle's eye upon the work to avoid loops of splitted yarn. Those loops occured anyhow even though I tried to avoid them. The "Pintuck" was finished in July but it took me a month to find a hook and crochet the edging and then it took some weeks before I got a photo of it. The pattern was nice to knit but I made a small modification. The sleeves are a little longer than on the original. I'm not quite satisfied with the sleeves, but they will do.
Malli/pattern: Lien Ngo: Pintuck T-shirt
Lanka/yarn: RYC soft bamboo (406 g)
Feelis. Iso pettymys! Huge disappointment, after a days use the garment had streched so much that the hem was 5 cm longer and the waist decreases were far below the waist. The yarn is so wonderful to the skin but I doubt that I will ever knit anything of it.
Avattuun kerään jäi 44 g lankaa, niistä virkkasin (aivan niin) meikkilappuja, niille varmasti löytyy käyttöa.
There were 44 g left in the skein so I crocheted (you read it right) makeup pads. These ones will surely be used!

My name is Bond
- Silke Tweed Bond. This is how far I managed to knit during the vacation with 3½-size needles and a yarn that resisted every stitch. The pattern is really boring to knit and the yarn don't slide on the needlse at all but I believe that the finished garment will be wonderful

Tilkkuja tusina täydeltä
Vihoinkin 12 Month Cable Afghan KALin viimeinen tilkku on valmistunut.
Finally the last square to the 12Month Cable Afghan is finished. This one was a pleasure to knit and a worthy endpoint to the KAL. I fear that I do not have enough yarn to knit the complete border. Luckily we're going to Finland soon and I can buy some more, if I manage to join som squares and knit a skein to see how long I can go with it. Maybe I had managed this because I was about to start my vacation today but about three o'clock I was told that I need to work next week.. in the neighbouring town... Truly fun it takes about 90 minutes to drive there so I can add 3 hours per day to my wortking hours.
Malli/pattern: Tammy Eigeman Thompson: July Afghan Square-2011-mm (ravelry)
Lanka/yarn: Novita Puro (
Feelis: Tästä tykkäsin kovasti. Like this very much
I found the inspiration to knit makeup pads here. Since DROPS are having 30% off on summer-yarns I made a “bargin“. 2 skeins of

48 tilkkua täkissä
Look at this! Finally all 48 squares assembled together. It took only 18 month from the last square was knitted… This afghan will be HUGE. I still have about half of the border to knit and have realized that I’ll run out of yarn. But we’re going to Finland in a couple of weeks so I’ll guess I’ll have a great opportunity to buy more especially since we’re going to stay pretty close to a Novita outlet.

Juhannusreissu Legolandiin
This year we spent the Midsummer in Legoland. I really can recommend that weekend for a visit there. The queues on Friday were nonexistent and the kids could enjoy themselves the whole day without spending any time in queuing. On Saturday the queues had grown and for the most popular attractions we had to queue a full 15 minutes…. So it was a very pleasant holiday in all aspects. I brought 500g RYC soft Bamboo-yarn, size 3½ needles and Lien Ngo’s pattern to Pintuck T-shirt. I knitted the t-shirt up to the armscye.
Näyttää siltä että vihreä on tämän kuun suosikkiväri. Pellavalangasta minkä sain Lenalta on valmistunut tiskirätti. It seems like green is my colour this month. The Linen-yarn Lena gave me has been transformed to a dishcloth. Previously I only had dishcloths of Bamboo-yarn, now it shall be very interesting to compare linen and bamboo.
Malli/pattern: Ina Braun: Heidi's pinwheel washcloth (ravelry)
Lanka/yarn: M&K Linen (34g)
The yarn is hard, splits easy and harsh to knit and it is difficult to see the pattern but I believe that it will work fine.

Kesäneuleita
Even though it’s summer and warm (well could be at least…) I have something to show and there is some FO’s too. First of all The June square, now there is only one square left to go before all squares are knitted. My intention is to assemble this as soon as possible.
Malli/pattern: Tammy Eigeman Thompson: 12 Month Cable Afghan June square (ravelry)Lanka/yarn: Novita Puro (85 g)
Feelis: Nojaa, en vieläkään ole oppinut antamaan arvoa näille tilkulle missä sekoitetaan palmikkoja ja pitsineuletta. On vähän liian paljon kaikkea minun makuun. Well, I haven’t still learned to appreciate this squares where cables an lace is mixed. It’s a little too much of everything to be my cup of tea.
Do you remember the swatch I showed some weeks ago. I grew into a Enthusiastic Poppy, even though the color more reminds of lilac (Syringa Vulgaris). The knitting part is done now and with the help from Little Sisters godmother I found a suitable fabric for the skirt and shoulder straps.
Finally I have started to knit an Iron Horse, we’ll see if it maybe turns out to be a Ford Mustang

There was a surprise waiting for me when arriving home from work. The mailman had brought me a skein of linen yarn. Thank you so much Lena for this wonderful surprise, I think, I’ll do as you suggested, knit a summer dishcloth of it.

Salaiset sukat valmiit
Malli/Pattern: Stephanie Bold; Erin (Ravelry)
Lanka/Yarn: Schachenmayr nomotta Regia Uni 4-ply (79 g)
Feelis: Sukat syksyä varten, hyvä näin. A pair of socks for the coming fall and that’s a good thing.
This is my very first Mystery KAL, I have always been a little skeptical towards mystery knitting mainly because my knitting time is so limited that I do not want to waste it in by knitting something I really want. But for some odd reason I jumped into this without slightest hesitation, the yarn was already waiting for me and I had finished a pair of socks and were thinking about which to knit next. The first clue was nice, the second one made me hesitate a little, the third one I knitted twice. Here I think the pattern might be a little clearer. OK when looking at the diagram you can see that the instep-increases are only on one side. But I was watching TV and knitting so I putted on the autopilot and did as I use to, knitted the increases on both sides. When reaching the heel my instep was very, very wide… Well that’s one lesson I’ll hopefully remember, insteps increases doesn’t necessarily be on both sides… The leg was quite boring to knit and I do not think it match with the quite elaborated foot. I almost get the feeling that Stephanie lost her inspiration when she reached the foot part of the sock.
Anyhow I’m pleased that I have a pair of new socks for the fall but I do not think I’ll make another pair of these. They do not fit particularly well on my skinny feet nor am I fond of the reverse stockinet stitches. I like purl on the “inside” an knit on the “outside”.

Neljäs johtolanka uudestaan... oikea kuva;-)
I noticed that the photo shows clue three, so let me proudly present the result of clue four and I can also reveal that there is not much left on clue five before the socks are don, maybe in the beginning of the next week the secret will be revealed.
The may square has been finished and it was a yarn-consuming one but I like it very much.

Äitienpäivänä isille lahja
No weight at all, quite anonymous but warm and comfortable. They were finished just in time for Mothers day so I gave them to… dad. Maybe I could knit something to mom in November…
Malli/Pattern: Joseph Reinert; Intercostal Mitts (Ravelry)
Lanka/Yarn: Schachenmayr nomotta Rheuma Thermal Wolle (24 g)
Very nice. They are so stretchy that they fits both me and dad.
I have been knitting at the May square all May and it is still not finished. Riding a bike to work steals very much valuable knitting time. Yesterday we went to IKEA and I managed to finish the forth clue of Stephanie Bold’s ERIN mystery socks. Tomorrow the last clue will be revealed

Rämpivät sukat
I like wearing socks, and these Norfolk Ramblers are no exception you can ramble in busy streets as well as in the forest wearing them. I knitted my pair toe up since I didn’t have much yarn left but I made a small miscalculation and the ribbing at the top is is a little too long. I still do not know what to say about this yarn. The colors are great and the stand heavy use. My Hedgerow socks have been in heavy use but no trace of wear can be seen. But the yarn is so uneven, extremely bulky and a meter later it's thinner than thin.
Malli/pattern: Emma Haig: Norfolk Ramblers (ravelry)
Lanka/yarn: Drops Delight (73 g)
Feelis: Kyllä nämä jalassa kelpaa rämpiä missä vain. Wearing these you are fit to ramble everywhere.
Olen myös alkanut neuloa salaisia sukkia. Stefanie Bold on pistänyt ERIN-sukka mysteerio KALin pystyyn.
I have also joined Stephanie Bolds ERIN-sock Mystery KAL. The first clue knitted up very quickly and resulted in a pair of cute bunny-ears. I also have a pair of fingerless mittens to dad ongoing and then there are three more or less finished afghans waiting for some attention.
This year I haven’t bought one singe skein of yarn… until DROS started their annual spring sale (30% off). 2 skeins of the new Lace-yarn; this shall be a shawl to myself but first I must find the right pattern with plenty of beads. The Fable is going to be 2 pairs of socks and a pair of fingerless mittens. This is not enough. I also ordered some skeins of their alpaca-yarn for a small shawl. Luckily we’re planning our holiday-trip to Finland. It means plenty of sitting in a car and quiet evenings in the camping cottage without a TV. Maybe I should spend some of that time knitting…

Huhtikuun puuhia
When it comes to the afghans I can report some progress; the April square is finished. I was very doubtful when I casted on for this one, there seemed to be too much of everything, but when it’s finished I like it. But now there will not be so much knitting time in the future since I’ll start to go to work by bike.
Malli/pattern: Tammy Eigeman Thompson: April Afghan square (ravelry)
Lanka/yarn: Novita Puro (89 g)
Feelis: Tykkään. I like this
The thought of half a dozen dishcloths didn’t leave me any peace. Quite stupid actually why is it so that half a dozen seems to be a more even figure that five? Anyhow I gathered together some Bamboo leftovers and knitted a cloth. I managed so well with the choice of yarn that only about 1 meter pink yarn was left and about 5-6 meters of the blue one.
Malli/pattern: Tera Johnson: Little Fountain Dishcloth (ravelry)
Lanka/yarn: Novita Bambu (tupla lanka/double yarn 83 g)
The colors combination is maybe a little too much but it will do very well in the kitchen

Lämmintä kevätkylminä päivinä
WHY don't blogger behave properly? WHY can't I edit my postings any more? WHY does blogger either add 3 blank rows or delete the ones I place between the sections? Why don't I get what I see in the edit field after publishing it? I'm VERY annoyed!
So dear reader please accept my aploogies, if I were to deceide it would look different.
Nyt Hedgerow sukat on saanet kumppanin. Neuloin samasta langasta, sammalla mallilla kämmekkäät. Koska töissä on niin inhottavan kylmää ja olen yksi näistä ”onnekkaista” jolla on ikkunapaikka (lue kylmä veto) näille tulee olemaan käyttöä vielä pitkän aikaa. Now the Hedgerow mittens finally got their partner. I knitted them in the same yarn and with the same pattern. Since it’s so cold at my work and I’m one of those “privileged” once sitting in the cold draught at the window I’ll be having good use for these for a long time still.
- Malli/Pattern: Amy Ripton; Hedgerow mitts
- Lanka/Yarn: Drops Delight (49 g)
- Feelis: Varresta tuli ehkä hieman pitkä ja levennykset kättä varten olivat ihan turha minun luiruille käsille mutta nämä lämmittää mukavasti ja tuntuvat hyvältä päällä. Maybe a little too long and all the increases to give room for the hand were of no use for my skinny hands but they are warm and comfortable.
- Malli/Pattern: Rose Anne; Leaving on the Edge
- Lanka/Yarn: Hjertegarn Cool Flamme Tweed (76 g)
- Feelis: Ihana! Wonderful!
